Sheetal Soni

Sheetal Soni is a Deputy Academic Leader at the School of Law of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), where she also lectures in the field of bioethics, international law and intellectual property law. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in law and is a PhD candidate. She is also an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Her research interests include bioethics, medical and assisted reproductive technology law, as well as intellectual property law and international law. She is a core member of the UKZN Health Law and Ethics Research Group and part of the UKZN African Health Flagship initiative. As one of the two legal academics assisting SHEFS South Africa, Soni’s input is related to the interpretation of human rights which are relevant to the SHEFS objectives at both a national and international level.
