Advisory Group
Who and Why?
SHEFS must ensure that its disciplinary research is of the highest quality and that it employs the best approaches to interdisciplinary research. At the same time, in order to be relevant beyond academia, SHEFS must engage with and promote its outputs across a diverse spectrum of scientific, policy and national communities.
The Advisory Group
The Advisory Group’s role is to:
- Ensure the quality of SHEFS’ scientific and policy research
- Help SHEFS engage effectively with programmes and leaders in its different sectors
- Support the uptake of SHEFS’ research outputs
The Advisory Group is made up of experts in the key research sectors of SHEFS, namely agriculture, food systems, health, environment, policy and interdisciplinary research management. It also includes regional expertise on SHEFS subjects in Africa, Asia and Europe.
The Advisory Group meet twice per year, once virtually, and members are available for advice and support in between.
The SHEFS Management Committee provides progress reports for scrutiny by the Advisory Group, and Group members are supported to visit SHEFS activities in Africa, Asia and the UK, to assess programme performance and challenges.
SHEFS Advisory Group Members
The following are currently members of the Advisory Group (the SHEFS Management Committee has agreed to consider further members if new specialist needs emerge as the project develops, and in consultation with the Advisory Group):
