Zinhle Nokubonga Lembede

Zinhle Nokubonga Lembede is studying for a Master’s at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She completed a BSc in Botany and Zoology at the University of Zululand, Empangeni, South Africa, where she was awarded the top achiever certificate in Zoology. She is currently a Research Assistant at the university’s Sustainable and Health Food Systems programme. Her research focuses on crop legume plants (with associated grasses) under phosphorus-deficient soil environments, nitrogen-fixing microbe symbiosis and how this symbiosis affects nitrogen nutrition and plant yield. This information is useful in selecting legume species with potential functional food production.
