Dr Soledad Cuevas
London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
Soledad Cuevas works as a Doctoral Research Fellow at CeDEP, focusing on livestock value chains and animal source foods in South Africa. She obtained an MSc in health economics from Barcelona GSE and did her PhD at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) on the nutrition, economic and sustainability impacts of trade liberalisation of palm oil in India. She has worked as a research fellow at LSHTM on the Palm Oil: Sustainability, Health and Economics (POSHE) project, funded by the Wellcome Trust. She has studied the economic evaluation of One Health Initiatives as part of an EU-funded project led by the NEOH network, in collaboration with the Royal Veterinary College and the University of Bologna. More recent projects have involved collaborating with non-academic partners, including as part of a study on market interventions to reduce childhood obesity in lower-income families in the UK. Cuevas’s current interests include mixed-methods tools for the analysis of food trade and sustainable nutrition, complex systems analysis, value chain analysis for sustainable nutrition and the inter-related drivers of obesity and food poverty in urban populations.
